We’re Karen & Kelsey…

…the mother-daughter duo behind Read Watch Go. This idea came to us over a decade ago and now we’re finally bringing it to life!

We’ve experienced firsthand how much richer the entertainment experience can be when you’re able to put the book or movie into bigger context; whether it’s watching an amazing documentary about a relevant historical time period, or traveling (virtually or IRL!) to the places your favorite authors lived, or cooking a meal described in a favorite novel, we’re here to elevate your experience!

We review and recommend only the BEST books & films, then tell you what else to read, watch, or do that will enhance your understanding and experience.

Coming soon: Downloadable book club guides complete with insightful reviews and facts, party games, menu planners, print-ables, and additional content suggestions (i.e. a movie that pairs well with the book!).

Until then…

 About Karen

Karen, here!  I’m so excited to (finally!!) bring to fruition - with my exceptionally clever daughter - an idea that years ago just showed up in my brain which reflected our passion for books, film, and travel.  Kelsey immediately named it - “Read Watch Go.”  Brilliant, right?!

God bless my mother for making a trip to the library a much anticipated event when I was just  a tiny girl. Every two weeks I could check out any three books I wanted, and then it was a hamburger, french fries, and a milkshake at Bob’s Big Boy!  Those library visits ignited a fierce love within me for reading, and a french fry addiction which continues to this day.

I’m not a “professional” book reviewer, film critic, or travel agent.  But I read A LOT.  And I read INTENSELY.  Books make me laugh, they make me cry, they make me root for something. Books teach me something I don’t know, they make me want to know more about something. Books frighten me or calm me down.  They give me hope, they make me want to do something. Some books make me hungry, some just let me escape. Books just make my life better. And Kelsey and I discovered a way to enhance our reading experiences through food and film and traveling and want to share that with you!  We’ve eaten the same strawberry crepes in Old Quebec City Inspector Gamache loved from Bury Your Dead. We visited Versailles after reading To Dance with Kings.  We drove to Cortona while in Italy to visit Bramasole from Under the Tuscan Sun.

Friends, family and even “people who know people, who know people, who know me” come to me for book recommendations, film and TV suggestions, and ask me to ‘please put together a special travel itinerary’ just for them. I’m famous in small circles - haha!  And I love it!

Besides reading and watching movies and traveling which I LOVE,  I do other things like play the piano, power walk, and ride my bicycle. I love to cook, I love my ladies’ poker club. I’m a retired family therapist and piano teacher.  Most of all, I love my friends and family.

But now - other than my daughter who I am most passionate about - I am ALL IN for a great ride with Read Watch GoMy life has been greatly enhanced through the books I’ve read.  I can’t wait to show you lots of fun, interesting, and unique ways books can make your lives more full, richer, and brighter. Come take this ride with us!

About Kelsey

Kelsey here- half of the “Read Watch Go” duo and specialist in all things YA, magical, fantasy, and fun!

After more than a decade in the film & TV industry as an actress and screenwriter, I’m no stranger to what makes a good story. If you’re curious, you can watch me on TV in shows like Modern Family, New Girl, and the EMMY-winning Hulu series Zac & Mia (based on a YA novel!), and also in films like “We Are Your Friends” with Zac Efron and faith-based hit “New Life”.

I’m also a writer in my own right! I’m the CEO & founder of my own company Magic Words Copywriting where I teach female entrepreneurs the basics of copywriting so they can connect with their ideal audience and convert readers into raving fans (& paying clients!). I speak at top conferences all over the country, teaching women to use words to empower their businesses.

As if that weren’t enough, I’m also halfway through writing my first YA novel. It’s a historical fiction based on real life witch trials that took place during the Renaissance and I’m kind of obsessed with it. Fingers crossed for a 2021 release!

As a fan, you can find me with my nose in anything YA or Fantasy- probably re-reading Harry Potter for the millionth time- or watching the 90’s BBC Pride and Prejudice (Colin Firth, yes please) while saying all the lines under my breath.
